- Book this multi-destination program 4 to 6 months in advance, especially due to limited availability for Nazca flights, Inca Trail permits, and Machu Picchu tickets.
- Ensure your passport is valid (minimum 6 months) and that your full name matches exactly all flight, train, and entrance tickets.
- Arrive in Lima and Cusco with enough time for acclimatization, particularly before high-altitude destinations such as the Inca Trail, Humantay Lagoon, and Rainbow Mountain.
- Maintain good physical condition, as the itinerary includes trekking, hiking, boating, and jungle activities.
- Pack layered clothing for changing climates: coastal desert, Amazon rainforest, and high Andes.
- Bring comfortable hiking shoes, sandals for the jungle lodge, and lightweight shoes for city tours.
- Carry rain gear (poncho or waterproof jacket), especially for the Amazon and rainy season months.
- Use sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) due to strong UV exposure at high altitude.
- Bring insect repellent suitable for tropical areas during the Amazon portion of the trip.
- Carry a small daypack (20–30 liters) for daily excursions and treks.
- Stay well hydrated and follow your guide’s advice regarding altitude and physical effort.
- Keep cash in Peruvian soles for tips, local markets, and small community expenses.
- Respect local customs and ask permission before taking photos, especially in native and rural communities.
- Follow all safety instructions from guides during jungle activities, boat rides, and trekking days.
- We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance covering trekking, altitude, and domestic flights.
- Be punctual for early departures, as many tour days start early to optimize weather and logistics.
- Pack only essential items during treks; porters carry equipment, but personal limits apply.
This is a moderate to challenging itinerary that combines cultural tours, jungle activities, and high-altitude trekking. Travelers should be in good physical condition and comfortable with hiking, long travel days, and changing climates. Prior acclimatization in Cusco is highly recommended.
We recommend booking 4 to 6 months in advance, especially due to limited availability for Inca Trail permits, Machu Picchu tickets, and Nazca flights. Early booking ensures better organization and access to the best routes and schedules.
The program includes comfortable 3-star hotels, a jungle lodge in the Amazon, and a traditional homestay on Amantani Island. All accommodations are selected for safety, cleanliness, and strategic location. Hotel upgrades are available upon request.
Yes. The itinerary includes domestic flights (Lima–Puerto Maldonado and Puerto Maldonado–Cusco), long-distance bus transportation, train tickets, and all required transfers between hotels, airports, lodges, and tour sites.
Tips are not mandatory and are completely voluntary. However, they are appreciated for guides, porters, jungle staff, drivers, and boat crews as a recognition of good service.

OUR CUSTOMERS RECOMMEND US
Posted on Bowen OVerified Recomiendo Sara y Machulas Journey. Posted on chapelhill2004Verified More than guiding—LIFE SAVING David was the most incredible guide. I was very ill prepared for this trek. David set a pace I could manage; and he made accommodations for transit while still pushing me to challenge myself. He basically carried me (and my bag) up the first part of the mountain because I was struggling to keep up. He didn’t shame me or rush me. He just adjusted to ensure that me and other members had a good trek. He knew the whole path and town of Cusco like the back of his hand. I’ve told several of my friends to consider him for their upcoming trips.
